One album that I am extremely excited for this year is U.K rapper, Little Simz’s fourth album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’, set to drop this September. I was first introduced to her in 2019 with Pressure (feat. Little Dragon) off of ‘GREY Area’ (big fan of Little Dragon), then I saw her in the cast of Netflix’s Top Boy executively produced by Drake that same year.
When listening to her music, she exudes this confidence that makes me feel like a boss. Woman (feat. Cleo Sol), a single that came out in May is one of my favorite songs right now. The song is a celebration of women and is my perfect summer anthem – I can’t stop moving to it. A Little Simz and Cleo Sol collab is one I don’t see myself getting tired of. The breakdown at 2:32 of the single is always on repeat.
In affiliation with Little Simz - A few months ago I got into the somewhat mysterious British collective, Sault. The group creates a mix of afro-beats, R&B, gospel, and funk that leaves room for interpretation as to who is all involved within. I recognized one of lead singers being Cleo Sol from her unmistakable soul and later learned that Inflo – one of Little Simz producers, is credited for several Sault projects. Their music makes me feel so good, here is one of my favorite tracks, Free.
